You’ve signed up for a class you thought would be interesting and the workload manageable. Now you’re a couple of weeks into it and you’re beginning to realize it isn’t the breeze you thought it would. And the worst part is your stuck with it! So what can you do to come out with the grade that you need?
Cal Newport, author of How to Become a Straight-A Student and How to Win at College offers some common sense solutions on what you can do to turn it around.
Here are the four things he recommends:
1. Meet with the professor.
2. Spend more time than you usually would on assignments.
3. Go to office hours to seek additional help.
4. Ask questions to develop your understanding.
On top of these I would suggest you identify a number of students who are competent in the subject and start some regular study sessions. Bouncing ideas back and forth with your class mates will increase your understanding of the material.
